I think it is a very special thing that a-net has decided to do this for us. There is a very short list of games that have let you get somthing for playing the previous version of it. Not everyone will be happy. My opinon is I am happy with anything as it is better than nothing. I HOPE that there will be more physical glam items than titles/or quest items. Once again that is my opinon.
I absolutely agree with everything you say here. I sort of recall Gaile saying something of the sort as well, but I don't have any log or anything to check concerning this. However, I remember she continued to give some unofficial feedback concerning the HoM for a while. None the less, I find this to be a tremendously great update and look forward to its implementation.

One thing that is certain, I look forward to seeing whatever it is that the HoM does unlock for us. I hope there are some really unique rewards well distinguished from one another (and all else that we find in game outside of unlocks).

LOL, we don't even know what kind of weapons there will be in GW2, supposedly it will be what? 200-300 years into the future from where we are now. Must have been some sort of evolution on the weapons side.

HoM is a great idea, it just seams like people are building them selfs up to where it will be a big let down (that could back lash on A-Net) when GW2 goes live.

There will be thread after thread saying "But A-Net PROMISED this and that if we filled our HoM" "Where is My .....................?" etc etc

You an me both draxynnic. I won't regret the several Ancient armor sets I have. Just glad I didn't buy the rest that I was planning buying. And I too need that list, wiki does little help . If you find it maybe message it to me?

250 years usually does mean new looking weapons. But that doesn't mean there can't be "ancient weapons" .

I recall actually that that map thing was something to do with EOTN. I believe the whole you can find map to something or other was n idea to do with dungeons. remember they told us about different ways such as maps or tour guides.

In addition, Guild Wars 2 recognizes the accomplishments commemorated by your original Guild Wars characters in the Hall of Monuments and provides you with unique rewards to showcase those achievements.
Could be anything from a useless titles to medals on the chest

Guild Wars 2 is a whole new game with different professions and races, new technology
Kind of solves the weapons issue right there

That is assuming that relates to technology in game, rather than the computers people develop and play with, I'm not really sure which.

It also says nothing about the degree to which technology has advanced, it could be as simple as a new ore from which slightly better swords can be formed, or GW2 could be a sci-fi game with fusion reactors and laser guns.

I was thinking more about "different professions " regarding the weapons.

Better get Tormented Weapons in now before the update causes them to rise in price!

It's a good thing I decided to keep my tormented shield after all this time rather than throwing it aside for money. =]

Uh...those things are like 100k + X ectos. I'm not made of money. It would be easier on and better for everyone if they'd just allow any weapon to be added.

So every item is considered prestige for GW2? No thanks.

It doesn't have to be "prestige", just something special. Example: My FDS is my favorite sword. If I could set it up on the monument then I'd pay an additional 50 bucks just to do so.

Go get one yourself.

Geez does anyone here play Guild Wars anymore?

Everyone needs to stop crying. This is going to be a great update.

There is a world of difference between playing GW and farming gold to buy 11 torment weapons...

While I personally don't care much about it they really had several options and went with the minority for a change...this should be noted.

They could have set up 3 tiers of items, Destroyer, Gold max, Green max, with each tier granting a different bonus in GW2.

Instead they set up a second tier cattering to the wealthy that can afford to purchase Torment weapons or that have DoA farming guilds.

There is, equally, a world of difference between farming gold to buy 11 tormented weapons and, instead, actually playing the game and -eventually- earning the weapons on your own.

Certainly, there are a plenitude of options that aNet could have taken with HoM. Indeed, they could have multiple tiers of items, weapons, etc... available for unlocks in GW2. I'm pretty sure, and most hopeful, that aNet is far more concerned with the actual content of the game than the insignificant unlocks that HoM will provide that do not affect the actual game, itself. People seem so focused on HoM that they forget how too much time spent focused on it would detriment the development of the GW2 game content.

Thus, I am thankful that they went with a minor changes. Minor changes, they may be, they still are significantly great.

That being said, I understand that we're all focused on HoM because that's all we have at this moment to feed and fuel our desire for GW2. Indeed, I also know how it feels having HoM as our closest link to GW2 while we wait. None the less, people are becoming blinded by this and forgetting that GW2 exists beyond the HoM and these unlocks (which are said to have no intrinsic purpose in the world of GW2).

I ask "does anyone play GW anymore?" because it appears everyone's just grinding out titles instead of actually playing the game (which leads to most titles in the long run anyway) and farming gold to buy things instead of actually playing the game (and getting weapons on their own accord).

I do sympathize to an extent, but people keep crying because they can't have their cake (a quality GW2) and eat it too ("more more more" in GW1 and HoM).

Personally, I think there's a lot at GW1 that should have been finished with GW1 before aNet even announced GW2... Surely, fix HoM and many other lacking things in GW1 but, more importantly, release two GW:EN-like expansions concluding and expanding upon the story to Cantha and concerning the events in Elona; all which, like GW:EN did for Tyria, better flesh-out and expand upon the stories on these Campaigns as well as provide a link to their involvement in GW2 (it seems to bother me more than anyone that only Tyria is got an expansion and is initially involved in GW2).

But the fact of the matter is that GW2 is aNet's priority and, quite honestly, it should be ours too. Whether we are still enthralled in GW or not, we should all be excited that aNet is working on GW2 because there are many things that they WANTED to do with GW but couldn't on its current engine. They are trying to take the world of GW to a whole new level for us players and players new and old should be most supportive of aNet's choice to put this new game ahead of anything else because, indeed, we should also share the same interest as aNet in having the best possible GW2 for our future gaming experience.

*raises hand* I find grinding titles to be boring, and haven't done any such since the books got buffed (did some Ebon Vanguard grinding early on to gain access to an armour that, ironically, I'm not going to spend money on now).

Actually, if I do find or create the list, I'll be using it to update the darned wikis...

One of my guildies and I did go through what is available to consolidate the information on the two wikis. Seems Necromancers are the most organised - they only have one armour skin that isn't labelled on either of the wikis, and process of elimination solves that.

You know what's REALLY awesome about this?

If I understand correctly, this means that if someone managed to access your account, and delete your characters... your titles and HoM items will live on in your account-wide HoM, and you'll still have unlocks for GW2.

Except possibly for your KoaBD track... KoaBD ranks change the appearance of the HoM, so they may or may not unlock something in GW2. But you don't specifically add KoaBD to your HoM like your other titles. So what will happen if you delete the character that had KoaBD ranks? Will the HoM remember your KoaBD rank?
